What will catch your eye today? A designer scent, a new handbag or dress, or perhaps some new jewellery for a formal night? Naturally, if you need to stock up on everyday essentials, there’s a shop on board for that too.

Day 02-05: Days at Sea

En route from New England to Canada, this charming and historic port, St John's is the capital of Newfoundland and the oldest city in Canada. Dating back to the 16th century, its long heritage is reflected in some well-preserved historic buildings.

Day 06: St John's, Newfoundland, Canada

This optional on board tour lasts approximately three hours and costs £75.00 per person (subject to change). The tour is hosted by a Senior Staff member and gives you the chance to get a different view of life on board. Tours including going down to the Engine Control Room, through the galley and theatre, backstage. You may even be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the Bridge.

Day 07: Day at Sea

The bustling city of Corner Brook is brimming with rich history and colourful stories of pirates and explorers. Lying on the west coast of Newfoundland at the mouth of the Bay of Islands, Corner Brook is also an exceptional area for outdoor activities.

Day 08: Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada

A selection of films can be watched in all cabins via the in-cabin televisions. A small charge applies to certain films, though many are free. Details of all in-cabin movies will be made available to you once on-board. Some ships even have their own cinema or SeaScreen up on deck.

Day 09: Day at Sea

Travel back through time to Canada's birthplace, Charlottetown. This cruise destination is bursting with colour and culture whatever the season. This pretty port is capital of Prince Edward Island, inspiration for the Anne of Green Gables novels and Canada's smallest and greenest province.

Day 10: Charlottetown, PEI, Canada

Our libraries on each ship are stacked with a wide selection of fiction genres and fascinating non-fiction books. So why not spend your day with your nose buried in a great book?

Day 11: Day at Sea

Halifax is the principal city of Nova Scotia and one of the most dramatically indented coastlines in the world. It is also one of the closest Canadian ports to Europe, hence its early prominence in transatlantic trade (Samuel Cunard was born here). For lovers of maritime history, a call at the cruise port Halifax will be one of the most memorable of a cruise around the USA's Eastern Seaboard and the Canadian Maritimes.

Day 12: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Historic Boston is a key cruise port for 'fall foliage' trips around New England and the Canadian Maritime Provinces but anytime is a good time to enjoy this friendly, walkable city - dubbed 'The Cradle of Liberty' for its part in the American War of Independence.

Day 13-14: Boston, USA (overnight)

On cruises with seven days or more at sea, Bridge classes are organised by instructors. There will be a beginner’s class followed by an improver’s class, both approximately one hour. All cards and equipment are provided. Tournaments will be advertised in the daily Horizon paper. Of course, other card games can be played too..

Day 15: Day at Sea

Fabulous mansions, fantastic scenery and the world famous ten mile Ocean Drive make Newport, Rhode Island a must see city. From the splendour of its palatial 'summer cottages' to its quaint colonial streets, inviting vineyards and numerous marinas.

Day 16: Newport, Rhode Island, USA

The 'Big Apple' is the USA's most charismatic city and really does have something for everyone. Love the great outdoors? Stroll through the gorgeous gardens of Central Park, right in the centre of Manhattan. Feast your eyes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or enjoy the shopping spree of your life at Saks, Macys, Bloomingdales or Century 21 on Cortlandt Street, which is the worlds largest discount warehouse and near that other must-see, Broadway.

Day 17-19: New York City, USA (overnight x2)

Find your pedal power in one of our gyms on board. All ships are fitted out with the latest equipment, including stationary exercise bikes with a range of settings to challenge you. Instructors are on hand to show you how to use them.

Day 20: Day at Sea

A little slice of history, a larger slice of superb scenery and a seasoning of designer label bargain-packed factory outlet shopping - Portland in Maine has all the ingredients for the perfect New England cruise call.

Day 21: Portland, Maine, USA

One of the most popular New England cruise ports, Bar Harbor has something of the look of Old England about it with visions of Cornwall evoked by the rugged coastal walk below its craggy, granite cliffs. But Main Street is classic small town America, full of stores where staff know all the locals by their first-name and bars which are packed with huntin, shootin and fishin trophies.

Day 22: Bar Harbor, Maine, USA

Located on the Bay of Fundy, Saint John has a vibrant arts centre, quality dining and shopping, pristine parks and history lined streets. One of the city's biggest attractions is the reversing falls of the Saint John river whereby the Bay of Fundy causes the river flow to reverse. The city is also home to Martello Tower, a harbour fortification built during the war of 1812 and Fort Howe with its excellent views over the port.

Day 23: Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada

The courts may be smaller than a real tennis court, but the play is just as intense. Rackets and balls are supplied on board, if you fancy a game..

Day 24: Day at Sea

A brand new port for P&O Cruises, Sydney - also commonly known as the Steel City - is Nova Scotia's third largest city. Located on Cape Breton Island's east coast, stunning scenery abounds and tours are readily available to soak up the very best of Mother Nature's masterpieces. The city was founded by the British Crown in 1785 and you can still find several buildings and landmarks dating back to this time.

Day 25: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada

Run your own marathon on board and take in the dramatic sea views – cheered on by the odd seagull. Or simply work up an appetite with a distance that suits you.
